Hello VAPA Community. This is Dr. Trimis. Monday is a Late-Start Day.

Hola, comunidad de VAPA. Este es el Dr. Trimis. El lunes es un día de inicio tardío.

Senior photos and make-up ID photos are scheduled for October 15 at Legacy. The Senior Sunrise Event, just for the Legacy Class of 2022, will be at Legacy at dawn on 10/16/21. Please see our website and Class of 2022 Schoology Group for more information.

Please note students must be in class by 8:30 am every day. We are still having a number of students arrive late and they are missing the first part of Period 1. We will implement our tardy policy beginning this week. All students must have a time/dated tardy slip to be admitted to class.

Please note outside food and drinks are not allowed in classrooms. Because some students are confronting teachers at the classroom door, we will no longer be able to allow drinks and snacks to be brought in if we see them at the front gate. This is aligned with all of the Legacy Complex schools and the Welcome Center. Please also note students may bring in their own packaged lunch to eat outside during lunch in the covered eating area, if they choose to do so. However, all students are provided lunch from the district. Please do not drop off food at lunchtime or order food from Grub Hub, Door Dash, or other services. This food will not be delivered to students.

There have been several questions regarding the COVID19 vaccination deadlines for students and next steps. Please note all students participating in extracurricular activities and/or athletics must be fully vaccinated by October 31 in order to continue participating.  In order to meet the deadline, students must receive their first dose no later than October 3 and their second dose no later than October 31.

Looking forward, we are thrilled to bring back live, in-person performances VAPA, following all COVID safety protocols including mask-wearing. We will present Frozen the Musical Nov. 18-20 and Winterfest on Dec. 3 for Music and Dec. 10 for Dance. Tickets will be sold online at www.vapalegacy.net with a limited number of cash sales out of the Student Store the day of the event, excluding Saturdays.

Hello VAPA Community. This is Dr. Trimis, principal of Legacy VAPA HS. This is our first weekly message of the year. Monday is a regular start day beginning with Advisories. Welcome back to school!

Hola, comunidad de VAPA. Este es el Dr. Trimis. Este es nuestro primer mensaje semanal del año. El lunes es un día de inicio normal que comienza con los avisos. ¡Bienvenido de nuevo al colegio!

Students must be in class by 8:30 am every day, but I recommend arriving early. All students and staff must have taken a baseline COVID19 test and have their negative results before entering campus. The fastest and best way to be cleared to enter school is by using the Daily Pass. LAUSD tests are automatically entered and tests from non-LAUSD sites need to be uploaded. Go to www.dailpass.lausd.net

Students who do not have a baseline COVID test may gete one upon arrival to Legacy and a parent must be present for the baseline test for the waiver process. After the initial test, weekly testing will be done at school and parents do not need to be present.

Students will get their schedules in their Advisory class and those rooms will be posted. We will issue both lockers and textbooks this week. Our PE teacher will give students info about PE uniforms.

We have a new bell schedule this year with most students and classes meeting every day. Breakfast (for the next day) and supper will be given to all students after school each day. Snacks will be available each morning and hot lunch will be given to all students every day.

I encourage all of our teachers, staff, and students who are eligible to be vaccinated to do so. More information is on our website.

Looking forward, Back to School Night and the Aloha Assembly is on September 2 and the Memorial Day Weekend is September 3-7. Our opening home football game is at 7 pm on August 27.

Be sure to check our website and social media platforms for upcoming programs and events at www.vapalegacy.net.

Have a great week, and, finally, I’ll SEE YOU AT SCHOOL!

Take Care,

Dr. Edward Trimis, Principal
