Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements!

There is no school Monday as we celebrate the Memorial Day holiday. Tuesday is a A-Day with Per. 1-2-3-T and advisories meeting.

We are now less than 2 weeks to graduation and the last day of school! This is time to be sure all work is completed and students are studying for final exams. Senior grades are due Friday and 9th-11th grade the middle of next week.

Legacy VAPA will have a new schedule for next year. On the 4x4 schedule, students will be able to earn 80 credits a year and have more opportunities to take electives and intervention/support classes! Please see our website and social media platforms for more info.

Please note that COVID19 vaccinations are now available at Southeast High School by appointment. More information is on our website.

Looking to next week: finals are next week, Senior Awards are on June 8 via Zoom, and Senior Cap/Gown/and Awards pick-up and technology and textbook return day is June 9. SpringFest 2021 will be posted as a YouTube Premier on June 10. The last instructional day of the year and graduation is June 11. VAPA Credit Recovery is June 13-17, Summer School is June 22-July 23, Summer Bridge and Summer Arts Intensives are Aug. 9-13, and the 1st day of instruction for next year is August 16.

Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements!

Monday is a A-Day with Per. 1-2-3-T and advisories meeting. Please note school is over for students at 2:20 pm every day.

This is another big week as we press towards the end of the year! On MONDAY we will distribute senior shorts to all graduating seniors on Tweedy in front of the Welcome Center from 8:30-9 am and 2:30-3:30 pm. All seniors are asked to wear their new senior shirts to our graduation meeting at 8:30 am on Thursday on Zoom. Hybrid/in-person students need to be in class at 8:30 am so they can log-in with the rest of the students in the 8:30 am online advisory class. Senior Advisory teachers will post information on Schoology and remind students tomorrow. Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements. Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios. Our new schedule starts this week with Monday being a special schedule.

Nuestro nuevo horario comienza esta semana y el lunes es un horario especial.

On Monday, all students, hybrid in-person or fully online, will be in an online advisory class with their advisory teacher on Zoom at 9 am. At that meeting, teachers will explain expectations for students on Monday and clarify any questions about the schedule for the week.

This week our new schedule begins. Please see the complete schedule at www.vapalegacy.net/vapareturns Fully online students will begin their regular schedule on Tuesday. Hybrid or in-person students, will return on different days this week. 9th graders in the H Advisory or the A-Day group, will come to school on Tuesday, 9th graders in the L Advisory or the B-Day group, will come to school on Wednesday. ALL HYBRID or In-PERSON STUDENTS, 9th-12th Grade, will be at school on Thursday (H-Advisory or A-Day) or Friday (L-Advisory or B-Day).

While many students are in the same advisory group, not all students are in the same group, so please confirm with your teacher and/or check the letter than was sent home. Students who arrive on the wrong day, or who do not have a negative COVID19 test result, will not be allowed to enter campus and will need to be taken back home.

We are excited to welcome back students who have decided with their families to return to campus the week of April 26. Please note that all CDC guidelines are being followed including daily disinfecting, mask wearing, and an upgraded ventilation system.  We will have our Return to Campus Orientation on Thursday, April 22, at two times, 1 pm and 5 pm. Please join us for one of the meetings for important updates for both online and hybrid students. Meeting codes and passcodes are at https://www.vapalegacy.net/vapareturns and in Schoology for each grade. Hybrid students return on April 27 (9th grade) and April 29 (10th-12th grade).

Appointments can be made by calling the school at 323-357-7531. Please be sure to download the daily pass app for screening and adhere to LA County Public Health guidelines such as wearing a mask. The daily pass can be obtained at www.dailypass.lausd.net

We are excited to welcome back students who have decided with their families to return to campus the week of April 26. Please note that all CDC guidelines are being followed including daily disinfecting, mask wearing, and an upgraded ventilation system.

Sports teams have started practice after school and have upcoming games. Not all sports will be playing this Spring. All students participating in sports program must have a completed sports packet including an approved physical and must have a weekly COVID19 test with a negative result. March is Women’s History Month, Music in our Schools Month, Arts Education Month, and Standing With Immigrant Families Awareness Month.

Our VAPA offices are now physically open from 8AM-3PM, Monday through Friday. Please be sure to make an appointment if you need to stop by, pick up technology, and/or turn in any forms. Appointments can be made by calling the school at 323-357-7531. Please be sure to download the daily pass app for screening and adhere to LA County Public Health guidelines such as wearing a mask. March is Women’s History Month, Music in our Schools Month, Arts Education Month, and Standing With Immigrant Families Awareness Month.

We have plenty going on this week! You may have heard we are set to return to in-person/hybrid instruction in Late April. Please join us for a Virtual Legacy Community Town Hall on Monday at 5 pm when we will discuss plans for the reopening and answer questions anyone may have. 10-Week Grades are due from teachers this week and Progress Reports will be sent out shortly afterwards. These grades are especially important for athletes, because they determine the 2.0 GPA eligibility to participate.

Our VAPA offices are now physically open from 8AM-3PM, Monday through Friday. Please be sure to make an appointment if you need to stop by, pick up technology, and/or turn in any forms. Appointments can be made by calling the school at 323-357-7531. Please be sure to download the daily pass app for screening and adhere to LA County Public Health guidelines such as wearing a mask. The daily pass app can be downloaded at dailypass.lausd.net

On March 8, we will resume in-person tutoring, on a limited basis on campus daily from 2:30-3:30 pm. Tutoring is 1-1 and once a week. Please all the office at 323-357-7531 to reserve a tutoring time. All students must have a negative COVD19 test, and follow all CDC guidelines including mask wearing.

Sports teams have started practice after school and have upcoming games. Not all sports will be playing this Spring. All students participating in sports program must have a completed sports packet including an approved physical and must have a weekly COVID19 test with a negative result.

COVID19 testing is being offered at several sites in the district including Legacy. All district staff, students, and their families may participate in the free testing program. For an appointment, go to https://achieve.lausd.net/covidtesting I also encourage you to look for messages regarding COVID19 vaccine availability. Currently, teachers, staff members, and community members 65 and older are eligible to receive a vaccine.

Looking ahead, Spring Break will beginning with the Cesar Chavez holiday on March 26 and continue through April 4.

March is Music in our Schools Month, Arts Education Month, and Standing With Immigrant Families Awareness Month.

We will continue distributing yearbooks on Monday, March 8, for anyone who purchased a 2019-2020 VAPA yearbook, between 9 am and 2 pm, out of the Student Store.

Our VAPA offices are now physically open from 8AM-3PM, Monday through Friday. Please be sure to make an appointment if you need to stop by, pick up technology, and/or turn in any forms. Appointments can be made by calling the school at 323-357-7531. Please be sure to download the daily pass app for screening and adhere to LA County Public Health guidelines such as wearing a mask. The daily pass app can be downloaded at dailypass.lausd.net
