Hello VAPA Community. This is Dr. Trimis. Hola, comunidad de VAPA.
Congratulations to our performing groups in this year’s Winterfest, the first LIVE Winterfest in 2 years! Our performances rocked the house with wonderful singing, playing, and dancing representing all of our music and dance clases. All total, there were literally hundreds of performers! Thank you so much to our amazing directors and thank you to our tech, video, and photo teams who supported the programs. Toy donations from the event will support youth in South Gate through the South Gate Police and City of South Gate Toy Drive programs.
As part of our school climate renaissance, we will be giving away 10th Anniversary T-shirts to all students and staff tomorrow. All students and staff are asked to wear their new shirts for group photos on Friday at the beginning of lunch.
This week we will have additional on-site vaccination clinics at Legacy on from 12-7 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. More info and vaccine appointments may be found at https://achieve.lausd.net/covidvaccineappt
We will have a number of upcoming incentives which will be given by an opportunity drawing for all students vaccinated on Friday. All students who enter must be present at the drawing at lunch in the Quad. Previously, we have given away a Nintendo Switch, Apple Airpods, an electric scooter, and drones. We will give away some of the same prizes and additional prizes for this drawing.
Looking forward to the Spring Semester, Frozen the Musical opens February 17 and we will add some programs and events including the Harmony Project, California Cadet Corps, Key Club, our 10th Anniversary Celebration, original Musicals Showcase, Spring Play, Springfest, and our original student musical, The Hardest Goodbye. It will be quite a semester!
Please support our VAPA music students who are playing in the LAUSD All-City Honor Marching Band. You can see them at BandFest at Pasadena City College, Friends and Family Day at Contreras High School, at Disneyland, or the Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1. More info will be on our website.
Friday is the last day of school before the Winter Break. We will return on January 10 with a regular day starting at 8:30 am. Please note our revised attendance and dress code policies are being fully implemented in the new semester. Both policies were sent home, posted at school, and posted online. Please also note there will not be a weekly call until January 9, 2022.

Hello VAPA Community. This is Dr. Trimis. Monday is a Late-Start Day.
Hola, comunidad de VAPA. Este es el Dr. Trimis. El lunes es un día de inicio tardío.
This Thursday is Parent-Teacher Conference Night on Zoom from 5-7 pm. Go to www.vapalegacy.net/parentconference21 for more information and Zoom links.
Please note all students must be fully vaccinated by the start of the Spring Semester. November 21 is the deadline for the 1st dose of the vaccine and December 19 is the deadline for the 2nd dose.
More info and vaccine appointments may be found at https://achieve.lausd.net/covidvaccineappt
We will have a number of upcoming incentives. All students who have received at least one dose of their COVID19 vaccination uploaded to the Daily Pass system will receive a Starbucks giftcard on Tuesday. We will be holding a opportunity drawing for a Nintendo Switch, Apple Airpods, an electric scooter, and drones on Friday for all students who have received at least one dose of their COVID19 vaccination uploaded to the Daily Pass system.
Please note that LAUSD is reassigning students who are not vaccinated to City of Angels Virtual Academy as of January 10, and at that time, these students will no longer be attending VAPA. Then the district is renorming schools and will be transferring staff based on the new enrollment counts. As of now, we have less than half of our students fully vaccinated. So, potentially, we could lose half of our teachers and staff in January if more students do not get vaccinated. I want to encourage our students to get vaccinated their safety, the safety of their family and friends, the safety of our students and staff, and for the future of our school. Advisory teachers and staff can assist with uploading vaccination records.
Please check our website (www.vapalegacy.net) and social media, and be on the look-out for messages , emails, and texts from us.

Hello VAPA Community. This is Dr. Trimis. Monday is a Late-Start Day.
Hola, comunidad de VAPA. Este es el Dr. Trimis. El lunes es un día de inicio tardío.
This week we start the second half of the Fall term, Mester 2, with most students starting the second half of 4 year-long courses. This is an excellent time for students to check with their teachers so they have a complete understanding of what it takes to be successful in every class.
Please note outside food and drinks are not allowed in classrooms. We will no longer be able to allow drinks and snacks to be brought in if we see them at the front gate.
As we continue to develop a positive school climate, we are excited to bring back great programs and start many new programs in this effort including STUDENT OF THE MONTH, LINK CREW, COLLEGE DAYS, SPIRIT DAYS, PEER TUTORING, CAUGHT BEING GOOD PROGRAM, SEVEN HABITS, and more!

Hello VAPA Community. This is Dr. Trimis. Monday is a Late-Start Day.
Hola, comunidad de VAPA. Este es el Dr. Trimis. El lunes es un día de inicio tardío.
Senior photos and make-up ID photos are scheduled for October 15 at Legacy. The Senior Sunrise Event, just for the Legacy Class of 2022, will be at Legacy at dawn on 10/16/21. Please see our website and Class of 2022 Schoology Group for more information.
Please note students must be in class by 8:30 am every day. We are still having a number of students arrive late and they are missing the first part of Period 1. We will implement our tardy policy beginning this week. All students must have a time/dated tardy slip to be admitted to class.
Please note outside food and drinks are not allowed in classrooms. Because some students are confronting teachers at the classroom door, we will no longer be able to allow drinks and snacks to be brought in if we see them at the front gate. This is aligned with all of the Legacy Complex schools and the Welcome Center. Please also note students may bring in their own packaged lunch to eat outside during lunch in the covered eating area, if they choose to do so. However, all students are provided lunch from the district. Please do not drop off food at lunchtime or order food from Grub Hub, Door Dash, or other services. This food will not be delivered to students.
There have been several questions regarding the COVID19 vaccination deadlines for students and next steps. Please note all students participating in extracurricular activities and/or athletics must be fully vaccinated by October 31 in order to continue participating. In order to meet the deadline, students must receive their first dose no later than October 3 and their second dose no later than October 31.
Looking forward, we are thrilled to bring back live, in-person performances VAPA, following all COVID safety protocols including mask-wearing. We will present Frozen the Musical Nov. 18-20 and Winterfest on Dec. 3 for Music and Dec. 10 for Dance. Tickets will be sold online at www.vapalegacy.net with a limited number of cash sales out of the Student Store the day of the event, excluding Saturdays.
Be sure to check our website and social media platforms for more information at www.vapalegacy.net.
Have a great week, and, I’ll SEE YOU AT SCHOOL!
Take Care,
